Program Pilot and Teacher Feedback
The programme has already been piloted in four schools, in total 255 evaluation forms have been completed by a range of 11 to 16 year old students.
As well as the students completing the evaluation form and questionnaire we also asked the teachers how they viewed the importance of this program as part of an education into energy conservation within schools and the wider public domain.
Below are some teacher’s comments:
- "It was absolutely right for its purpose, in that it quickly raised the student's awareness of energy conservation methods around an ordinary house."
- "The students learnt a lot about energy wastage and savings in an ordinary dwelling."
- "It will almost certainly be used regularly in the Science department as part of their scheme of work."
- "Many of the students wanted to take it further and discuss environmental as well as energy conservation issues."
- "There has been a lot of interest in the program from our Technology, Science, Mathematics and Geography departments."
- "I see the programme being used to inform pupils of how they can help conserve energy for their generation."
- "The attendance of the IT lunch clubs that run during lunch time and after school has increased by 50%. As a result of wanting to complete the program."
- "There has been a lot of requests from students to be able to use the programme at home.
