The Interactive City
Upon starting the game, you will be presented with a view from an area of the city. You are able to change this viewpoint to take a closer look at the separate housing estates within the city and then seek out tell tale signs of energy wastage. There is also a night view mode which indicates different usage of energy at that time of day and a thermal view showing the heat loss that occurs in each of the properties.
The setting is in winter to highlight the heat loss through the properties. This is demonstrated by a visual representation of no snow on the roofs of the properties that are losing energy.
You will be able to select one of six different areas to view in closer detail. These include a construction site, an industrial estate, detached houses, terraced houses, three story flats, semi-detached houses, and the high street. There are certain hotspots where you can access text based information, advising you on how energy is utilised in each area.
After identifying and choosing the property that shows energy wastage you will be taken to that destination. There is an overview of the family for each property where the occupants describe their lifestyles and property in terms of energy usage. This will help you determine how energy is used throughout the day and night.
